Homework

There will be five homework assignments during the semester. I don't think we'll do the style of tutorial-review grading that I tried last semester. Instead let's just do more traditional submit-grade-return :-)

Goals

Well, the goals for the fall were a work of fiction, so hopefully this list of topics will correspond more closely to what we actually cover!

Chapter Topic # Weeks Start Date
Chapter 2 Conclude product measures 2 Jan 14
Chapter 3 Signed measures and differentiation 4 Jan 28
Chapter 4 Topology 3 Feb 25
Chapter 5 Some topics from Functional Analysis 3 March 24
Chapter 6 Lp-spaces 3 April 14

Course Policies

Item Number Points Total
Exams 2 100 200
Homework 5 50 250
Quizzes 10 10 100
TOTAL 550

Midterm Exams

There will be two exams.

Quizzes

Every week except for exam weeks I will give a short quiz at the start of class Friday. The quiz covers only definitions and statements of results, and is intended to help keep on up to date with key statements and concepts. There will be more than 10 quizzes, and I will drop your lowest scores.
